Background of why we prayL

GOD says this:
“When my servants ask about “ME”- GOD- I am near. I answer those who implore/pray to me…”
 It isn’t wrong to pray for ourselves, for those close to us or for anyone we see struggling/suffering.. God wants us to bring our needs to Him, and to rely on Him and not just ourselves or others.

But there is always those who focus primarily on what they want from God rather than what He wants for them. (  I emphasise “FOR THEM” as GOD does not require/need anything from anyone)

 We need to be aware of human selfishness, this  tends to  be at the expense of what others may want or need sometimes.
We need to reflect of why we need certain things unless of course it is a matter of urgency

Prayer is a connection /a call to the Creator. Like when you phone a dear friend for some kind of help.

We may look upon prayer simply as a means of getting things for ourselves, but the purpose of prayer is also that we may get to know God. “Ask, and you will receive…” i.e getting to cement a relationship with GOD.
 Sometimes we are not granted our prayers, or we prayed for what is not in our interest , then we need to pray again after assessing and changing the prayer if necessary.
Or just be more patient longer.

Prayer that has value will come from the special relationship  that one builds over time with our Creator ,like for example in Psalm 16:
Keep me safe, my God,

1  for in you I take refuge.

2  I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;

apart from you I have no good thing.”

3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,

“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods

or take up their names on my lips.

5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;

you make my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

surely I have a delightful inheritance.

7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;

even at night my heart instructs me.

8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.

With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;

my body also will rest secure,

10  because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,

nor will you let your faithful one see decay.

11 You make known to me the path of life;

you will fill me with joy in your presence,

with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Let us pary together for the following target:

it is good to set ourselves a challenge/target and have a clear aim daily. Small or big ,it does not really matter because one can increase or decrease the challenge.
However , we need boundaries  so that the outcome will be to become”  A BETTER PERSON”  at the end.

Things to have in our challenge/target can include daily:
-Exercise for both the body and the mind.
-At least one act of kindness/help/love for another person .
-Dropping the negatives like I do not have time, I can t be bothered, I feel lazy thoughts,…
-Be happy /find a happy way to do the job you have contracted to do. Or change it.
– Build a nest of happiness with your family and friends and enjoy ;share some time in their company.
– Read/learn/study at least a couple of hours .
– Say “No” with a “yes” attitude”. like” I would love to but.. i.e in the nicest possible manner.

Lord help us achieve at least some of that list daily.

GOD bless.

Peace.
